Indian Spinach called as Palak in hindi, is an excellent source of vitamin K and folic acid for vegetarian and vegan population in India.
Compared to the available spinach in UK, leaves are larger and stem more sturdy, sold as washed or unwashed in packages. Available in any Indian grocery store, Indian palak sold in bunches must be thoroughly washed before use, root end and old stem must be chopped off.
Indian Palak is slightly bitter or sour in taste compared to UK spinach. This imparts an excellent kick to the popular Indian dishes like palak paneer, Aloo palak, Dal palak, palak pakora and many more to go on list.
