Popularly known as Angoor aur Akhrot Raita in hindi.
Raita are a classic condiment of Indian cuisine. l love to team up this bowl of goodness rich in omega 3 fatty acids, proteins, folic acid, besides vitamin B6 and minerals, full of textures and flavoursome is a versatile side of any Indian meal.
Thick curd whisked and folded with grape slices and walnuts has mild sweet flavors along with fresh mint and roasted cumin powder. The red chili powder gives a lick to your palate initially and then the sweetness soothes it all with crunchy and juicy bites.
Grapes and Walnut Raita
Ingredients
- 500 gm thick curd, whisked
- 147 gm or 25 to 30 seedless grapes sliced or halved
- 30-35 gm walnuts ( akhrot) coarsely chopped
- 1 1/2 tsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp freshly roasted and grounded cumin (jeera)seed powder
- 2 tbsp finely chopped mint leaves (pudina leaves)
- A pinch of red chilli powder
- Black salt(kala namak) to taste
Instructions
- Take yogurt or thick curd in a large mixing bowl and whisk to make it smooth and creamy.
- Season it well with black salt, brown sugar, roasted cumin powder and red chilli powder.
- Add the sliced grapes, coarsely chopped walnuts and finely chopped fresh mint leaves and mix gently.
- Place in refrigerator for 20-30minutes
- Garnish with mint leaves, chopped walnut and few sliced grape pieces.
- Serve chilled as an accompaniment to any biryanis, curries or Indian breads.
