This simple cucumber raita ready within minutes, yet so refreshing and packed with mild flavours, is a perfect side for any Indian meal and my favourite crunchy poppadums.
Cucumber Raita
This is known as Kheera ka Raita in hindi.This simple cucumber raita ready within minutes, yet so refreshing and packed with mild flavours, is a perfect side for any Indian meal and my favourite crunchy poppadums.
Ingredients
- 300 gm fresh yoghurt or Indian curd
- ½ cucumber grated or chopped
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder freshly toasted
- 1 green chilli de-seeded and finely chopped (optional)
- small handful mint leaves finely chopped
- squeeze a few drops of fresh lime
- pinch of red chilli powder to garnish
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Whisk the yoghurt in a deep bowl.
- Mix together all the ingredients and serve chilled as an accompaniment to any Indian meal.
Notes
When Indian cucumber is used, please cut the top and remove peel prior to grating or chopping, as sometimes bitter in taste.
Fresh coriander can also be used instead of mint leaves.
